Documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe supported by IDF’s activities, have been on the programme of more than 20 international film festivals since the beginning of the year thanks to the East Silver Caravan service. The films from the Caravan selection were screened not only in Europe, but also in USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Brazil, Argentina and Australia. The Polish documentary Snails has received the Audience Award at the Dutch Go Short festival.

We have already informed about the films screened in Jaipur, trieste and Helsinki here. The dramaturges of the following festivals were most interested in the observational documentary by Helena Třeštíková, Mallory, that has already appeared at seven festivals and will join two more during May. Very popular are also the films Cinema, Mon Amour, Sick or the short Polish documentary Snails, which won the Audience Award at the Dutch festival Go Short. The film by Grzegorz Szczepaniak, presenting the prospering „snail industry“ and an interesting fact that the Polish breeders do export the snails not only to France and Italy, but also to China and Japan, has already won the Silver Eye Award in the short film category at Jihlava IDFF.

On Monday, April 25 in Kosovo, Pristina, a new edition of the PriFest (Prishtina International Film Festival) begins, where the films The Network, Dangerous World of Rajko Doleček will be screened and the documentary Tashi Delek! will have its world premiere here. On April 8, 2016, the festival focused on films dealing with mountaineering, adventure and exploration will start in Italian Trento. Several Caravan films made it to its programme: Climbing Higher, Jurek, K2 – Touching the Sky and The Place.  On the same day, the renowned festival Hot Docs begins in Toronto, Canada. The above mentioned film Mallory will be screened here , as well as at the Human Rights Arts & Film Festival in Australia. Two days later, the DOXA Documentary Film Festival opens its gates in Vancouver. The audience will have a chance to see the film Perfection is Forever there.

On May 5 Dok.fest IDFF starts in München. Its organizers picked Trapped by Law and Dangerous World of Rajko Doleček out of the Caravan collection. The Serbian capital will host Belgrade BelDocs  festival from May 12. On its programme, there will be two interesting documentaries: The Unidentified and Amerika, which is also part of this year’s KineDok programme. On the same day, the Moldavian Cronograf International Documentary Film Festival will welcome its first visitors. The Dangerous World of Rajko Doleček will again be on its menu, accompanied by The Network and My Father the Banker, another film out of this year’s KineDok collection. Our fingers are crossed for all the filmmakers and we hope that soon you will hear about their successes.
