NO! NO! NO! is the new title in East Silver Caravan

Short documentary by Mykola Ridnyi NO! NO! NO! is the newest addition to the East Silver Caravan. The documentary captures testimonies of young people from Kharkiv in Eastern Ukraine whose lives are changed by a war conflict between Russia and Ukraine going on in nearby Donbass.

LGBT activist and poet was beaten by four men because her organization was making fun of fascist gang which publishes compromising materials online and beats people who are "filthy". Fashion model openly sympathizes with Euromaidan and criticizes campaign "Fashion for Peace" at Kiiv Fashion Days. Street artists are writing on the walls of Kharkiv quotations that are pointing out war killings. A young man depicts in his video game, inspired by current situation, a city consisting of four zones. In his opinion the authorities are not representing the powers of order, but chaos. All these young people reflect political events through their specific relationships with the urban space and the reality of the social media. NO! NO! NO! was screened in the national competition of the 8th edition of Odessa IFF in 2017.

Mykola Ridnyi (*1985, Kharkiv) has written, directed, edited and was also co-cinematographer of 22 minutes long NO! NO! NO! Ridnyi graduated in 2008 from the National Academy of design and arts in Kharkiv, where he studied in the sculpture department. Since 2005, he has been a founding member of the SOSka group, an art collective based in Kharkiv. The same year he cofounded the SOSka gallery-lab, an artist-run-space in an abandoned house in a center of Kharkiv. Under Ridnyi's lead, the gallery-lab was instrumental in the developing the artistic scene in the region before it was closed in 2012. He curated a number of international exhibitions in Ukraine, among them "After the Victory" (CCA Yermilov centre, Kharkiv, 2014), "New History" (Kharkiv museum of art, 2009) and others. Ridnyi works across media ranging from early collective actions in public space to the amalgam of site-specific installations, sculpture, short films and text essays. His way of reflection social and political reality draws on the contrast between fragility and resilience of individual stories and collective histories interlinked with a display in media. His works are in the collections of Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Museum of modern art in Warsaw and others. Ridnyi currently lives and works in Kyiv, Ukraine. Previous titles added in the East Silver Caravan are documentary essay about  self-taught but ambitious right-wing populists Empire Builders (Budovatelé říše, dir. Andran Abramjan) and a documentary My Unknown Soldier (Neznámý vojín, dir. Anna Kryvenko) uncovering a life story of a soldier who was one of the occupants in Czechoslovakia.
