Synopsis

“Word in Pain” is a cross-media documentary project that explores the topics of military power, authority and hazing. It questions how and why people are crossing lines that shouldn’t be crossed.
The term “hazing” refers to various rituals and other activities involving harassment, abuse or humiliation used as a way of initiating a person into a group. Sometimes the price of failure to integrate is the human life.
This is an omnibus-format project consisting of short films shot in Post-Soviet countries, Germany/Swtizerland and Israel. The cross-media part of the project is aimed to use art as a tool to open up space for rethinking the nature of the authority illustrated through the military system.
Each of the short films will be a contemplation and cinematic interpretation of the topic according to each country’s context and the artistic method and practice of the filmmakers and the artists involved in the project.
