Tomáš Tožička is the new executive director of IDF

Tomáš Tožička is the new executive director of the Institute of Documentary Film beginning October 2018. The previous director, Bojan Schuch, who has been with IDF since 2012, will work on a new position as a financial consultant.

Tomáš Tožička is a project manager. He worked as a manual labourer until 1989, after which he studied at university and has been leading international projects ever since. He founded and managed community centres in the Most region as well as electrification projects in Africa and Asia. He was a representative of the World Council of Churches in the United Nations in New York. He has appeared in several documentary films, such as Solar Eclipse (dir. Martin Mareček, 2011) and The Limits of Work (dir. Apolena Rychlíková, 2017). He is an editor and co-author of books concerning management of development and gives lectures on the issue in the Czech Republic and abroad.

His responsibility is to secure smooth operation of the IDF and efficient cooperation among the members of the team. He represents the IDF in its entirety at festivals and scholarly events and he communicates with partners located in the CR and abroad. He uses his experience with management and financing of the non-governmental sector in cooperation with the Council and the IDF team in order to exercise its activities to the full.
