Ex Oriente Feature: Feature-length documentary projects
Creative feature-length documentary projects in the development and early production stage, which challenge genres, format and media boundaries. We welcome filmmakers who conduct intense and engaging experiences and who change the way we reflect our reality. Projects are to be represented by a producer-director team.

Ex Oriente Series: Documentary series projects
Factual creative documentary series in development and early production stage with original idea and vision for an episodic documentary project with international potential. Projects are to be represented by creatives/directors, and producers team.

Projects selection: 
Entered projects are assessed by a committee of the workshop leading tutors, Ex Oriente Film team and other industry experts. The complete list of the selected 12 feature docs and 5 docuseries is in the link below.





Participants:
Directors, creators and producers participate with their own creative projects. Projects can be submitted by the independent producer (feature-length documentary projects) and by the producer, creator or TV producer (documentary series projects). Please note, that to fully benefit from the programme, all members of the participating project team must be able to commit to attending all 3 residential sessions full-time, in person and within the set dates and attend additional online sessions as required in the workshop schedule. Participants must be proficient in English.

The workshop is designed for directors, creators and producers coming from and with projects originating from Europe with a special focus on Central and Eastern European projects (incl. selected EU acceding and candidate countries) and/or projects dealing with stories from Central and Eastern Europe.

Participation fee: The expected participation fee is EUR 3000 for documentary feature film projects and EUR 2100 for docuseries projects. The fee covers the expenses related to the realisation of the workshop. The fee will be implemented in accordance with the format of the workshop's sessions and will be confirmed prior to the start of the workshop.

Scholarship: Successful participants whose project is selected may apply for a scholarship to cover part of the participation fee related to their attendance at the workshop. Applicants must prove that there is no access to a scholarship for attending professional training in their own country.

Practical requirements: Directors and producers can only participate with their own creative documentary projects. It is required that all workshop sessions are attended by both the director and the producer. Participants must be proficient in English.
