Veronika Lišková's new documentary The Visitors (East Doc Forum 2020) will be premiered in Critics’ Week at Locarno Film Festival. World sales company Taskovski Films has acquired the rights. Francesco Montagner will come to the festival again, after his Brotherhood got Pardo d'oro in 2021, with experimental short Asterión.
The Visitors (Semaine de la critique)
A young anthropologist, Zdenka, moves with her family to Svalbard, Norway, to study how life is changing in polar regions. After falling in love with her new home, she discovers that not just icebergs and permafrost are vanishing in the Arctic. She has to work out to what extent she can get involved in the local community that she originally only intended to observe.
