The International Film Music Festival of Tenerife (FIMUCITÉ) organized a competition for cinematographic works FIMUCINEMA 2017, an event that endeavors to disseminate and promote the role of music as an essential element of a cinematographic production. The festival was open to all genres, however the focus was strictly on the musical elements of film and any submissions.
The category Best Original Score in a Documentary was open for any national or foreign non-fiction production with a running time of at least 20 minutes, in digital format or 35 mm.

The Best Original Score for documentary was awarded to the feature length documentary The Last Ice Hunters, telling a story of present generation of hunters in the Inuit community of East Greenland. This film went through East Doc Platform 2017 and is included in the selection East Silver Caravan.
