Synopsis

An archaic bronze foundry in the heart of Tirana, Albania. 60 year old bronze founder Ladi Metani used to cast propaganda into opulent monuments on behalf of the regime during the communist dictatorship. Supposed to be immortal and built for eternity they could not withstand the change that came in the early 90s when they were pulled down, destroyed and melted. Something new arose. Ladi found his own way of artistic self-expression after silent decades of oppression. As Albania is preparing for its 100th aniversary of independence Ladi is again commissioned to cast a new monument. This film is not only a tribute to a man who strives for a pure form of life and inner freedom apart from political ideologies, but also the portrait of a country in transition.
