Synopsis
Kafka's myth has little to do with Kafka the man. Kafka's work has influenced generations of readers around the world and their perception of him. Just as the character K. from the novel "The Castle" cannot be mistaken for its creator, one must find the real Kafka behind the mystifications and myths. This documentary portrait of the famous writer comes with never published facts and archives about his life and a new interpretation of the relationship between the work and the author... The Mysterious Loner. A genius oddball. A visionary of 20th-century dictatorships. This is the perceived image of Franz Kafka, not the real man, but only the Kafka myth. The man behind the myth is revealed in the documentary film by director Pavel Šimák, an international co-production of ČT and Arte.
