Synopsis

Theatre play “Hourly Hotelier” was written by Pavel Landovský at the end of 60’s and under Evald Schorm’s direction starred Oldřich Nový and Miroslav Homola. The piece became legendary in the Činoherní klub theatre. After 45 years, Czech theatre director Jan Kačer decides to stage this play again. His intention is not to achieve sold out theatres and critics’ acclamation, he aims to return the legend of Czech theatre Pavel Landovský back to life. Landovský lives alone in a country house somewhere in the proximity of Prague, tormented by diseases and life scepticism, which he hides behind an aggressive and vulgar attitude. In the play planned for only one show, his partner is supposed to be another legend of Činoherní klub theatre and Czech cinema Vladimír Pucholt. This Canadian physician takes a holiday and on his own expenses flies to Europe to get back to his original profession. Another famous Czech actors join him to help with the project, among others Josef Abrhám, Libuše Šafránková, Jan Hrušínský, Kristýna Hrušínská, Jiří Krejčík … But more and more conflicts and medical issues occur and it’s not obvious anymore that this foolish act of good will can have even a tiny Happy End.
