Vratislav Effenberger or Black Shark Hunting

Vratislav Effenberger aneb lov na černého žraloka

Directing: David Jařab

Synopsis

Documentary about Vratislav Effenberger (1923 - 1986), a prominent figure of Czechoslovak post-war surrealism, whose work reflects his peculiar approach towards everyday reality of socialist Czechoslovakia as well as uncompromising attitude towards the whole western society. Due to the range of his work and activities in 1970´s, Effenberger was also considered a member of Czech dissent. Thirty years since his death make it finally possible to look back at his career and see it in the new contexts. In addition to the access to his personal archives, many of his close friends and colleagues are still here to provide valuable insight to the life of unjustly overlooked artist and theoretician.
