Out of the Depths I Cry...

Z glebokosci wolam

Directing: Wojciech Gierlowski

Synopsis

A poetic story displaying the fate of children from the Lodz ghetto in occupied Poland. The film is based on diaries and poems written in Polish by children in the ghetto. The film attempts to recall the fate and commemorate the children who died from hunger, cold and exhaustion, those who died at Chelmno, at Auschwitz and other death camps, and also those who survived, always bearing the memories of those tragic events. The title of the film "Out of the Depths I Cry..." is taken from the opening line of Psalm 130 - sung at the end by the Israeli singer Tova Ben-Zvi.
