Synopsis

Teheran – 9 social interactions – a static camera. The ordinary Iranian citizen clashes with power in the form of parents, teachers, bureaucrats and businesspeople. Under a regime established on a foundation of social, cultural and religious restrictions, even a seeming triviality like the colour of one’s hair, a search for a lost dog, or naming a child, may turn into a major obstacle. Bit by bit, outwardly mundane dialogues reveal the institutional injustice and moral crisis of a society. The film, titled after a poem by Iranian artist Forugh Farrokhzad, shows how politics permeate everyday reality in today’s Iran, gradually draining people of their resolve to resist.
