Synopsis
A mobile blood donation center drives around small towns like a touring circus. Russia has no shortage of donors: the old, the young, the unemployed and the retirees all queue to be treated by the arduous but motherly nurses. The state pays 850 rubles (15 Euro) for a half a liter of blood. For many it is their only income. The grand Russian empire of yesteryear is in decline and its people are struggling just to survive. Russia's economy is practically entirely based on oil exports and is dependent on the price of oil. More and more consumer goods are purchased from abroad. Russia is a world outsider and just like these bums who can't find work are selling their blood to survive, Russia is selling oil. Blood and oil for sale...
