The 1989 anti-communist revolution In Romania took place on the streets of big cities. Yet, all around the country, people were waiting for something to change with excitement mixed with learned paranoia. The road through Stremt ends in the mountains. In 1989, however, local villagers were eagerly awaiting army tanks, terrorists and glory. Today, though partly forgotten and partly imagined, the past is crystal clear.
