We Wouldn't Be Here Without You

Ohne euch wären wir nicht mehr hier

Directing: Dominique Doujenis

Synopsis

The film shows an example of non-violent resistance against war and human rights violations in Colombia. The Peace Community of San José de Apartadó, composed by families of campesinos and campesinas, was founded in 1997 in the midst of a conflict zone in the Columbian region Urabá. They have become a symbol of non-violent resistance to the violence of armed forces. Their peaceful civil resistance has cost them dearly: 180 of their members have been killed by different armed forces. As an act of solidarity the Austrian branch of the Fellowship of Reconciliation organizes once a year a delegation to the peace community.
