Synopsis
Le Grand Macabre is an experimental film, based on a live recording of an opera by György Ligeti with the same name, performed by London Sinfonietta Voices Philarmonica Orchestra at Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, February 1998. The film is also a homage to composer Ligeti, a contemporary, classical avant-garde author, who also enriched the field of film with his unforgettable passages in Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Shining and Eyes Wide Shut.
