Parsifal - Indiana Jones und Richard Wagner

Directing: Werner Boote

Synopsis

"Parsifal - Indiana Jones and Richard Wagner" is a documentary about the new production of "Parsifal" at the Vienna State Opera in April 2004 staged by Christine Mielitz and directed by Donald Runnicles. It led the director Werner Boote to Spain, where he went in an adventuresome search of the real Holy Grail precisely at Eastertide, when the Spanish nights are brightened by impressive processions. In the fortified monastery of San Juan de la Pena he finds Wagner`s Graslung, he meets the "Caballeros del Santo Caliz", who on Monday, Thursday, the day of the Last Supper, reveal to him the relic of the Last Supper chalice. This new form of opera documentary presents opera for television and embraces two lines of tratment: Today`s access to historical material and Wagner`s opera.
