The Rising of the Enslaved

Two-part historical documentary founded on the memories of participants and witnesses, the commentary and the assessment of the historical events by scholars and authentic materials contained in the archives. The movie will reconstruct the development of the events, the tragedy around them and their importance to a modern-day history of Lithuania. “The events of June 1941 mark the resistance and battle of the whole nation against occupation and terror, aiming at turning the nation from a victim to a subject, empowered to govern its own country and institutions, to preserve the remaining assets and to free the political prisoners in Kaunas and other parts of Lithuania. At that point, the revolt was a clear sign to Germany and other countries that Lithuania is not a part of the Soviet Union”, says Saulius Bartkus, a producer of the movie.
