Directing: Christian KrönesFlorian Weigensamer

Synopsis

For almost a century now, Pakistan has been the most important supplier of hand-stitched footballs. About 70 % of all footballs come from the industrial city of Sialkot. 40,000 men and women work as stitchers in over a thousand workshops to manufacture balls for the world market. Sialkot is the secret capital of the football world. All major sports article companies produce their goods in the city, over 40 million balls are exported. 2.6 million people live in the region and although only a few of them are interested in this sport - they all really agree on one thing: Football determines their lives. The film intertwines the personal stories of the protagonists coming from different social classes and presents a complex view on life in the region. It is the ball that keeps a whole micro-cosmos alive.
