Synopsis
What do you do when you find out that your unborn child is disabled? Thomas Fürhapter takes this question and develops a complex filmic essay: The Third Option examines individual destinies in the age of prenatal screening and biopolitics from a radical contemporary and socio-political viewpoint. The film peels away the various thematic layers to reveal the core questions of birth, ethics and norms – and thus transforms an issue only affecting a small number of people into a matter that concerns us all.
