Synopsis

ANTSCHEL is a film about the Poet Paul Celan who was during his entire life haunted by memories of his past in a Romanian concentration camp and of his murdered parents. His only homeland and shelter was his poetry in German language.

Celan’s closest friend Klaus Demus, now 93 years of age, tells the story of first encounter in Vienna and their friendship over all the years until Celan’s suicide 1970.
