Synopsis
Yallah! Underground follows Arab artists from Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan and Israel through years of rapid social change. For years these young Arab artists have been struggling to express themselves freely in their societies. They represent a new generation of Arabs who seamlessly integrate aspects of different cultures and philosophies into their lifestyle and their work. They have been trying to open their societies by expressing their daily life experience and their views on life, politics and society through their art. In December 2010 a wave of demonstrations, civil unrest and riots against the ruling powers swept over most Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa. Artists who were fighting against social, political and traditional restrictions suddenly saw their work and dreams come to fruition but also new conflicts and restrictions arising.
