Synopsis
In 1935, Three Walt Disney films were screened in Moscow. Fyodor Chitruk saw these films and was convinced that he had seen a miracle. He didn`t know that one day he would become one of the greatest Russian animators. Through his story we discover a magical art form that remained unknown for decades. Magia Russica moves between the sights and sounds of Russia, and into the animated films. In a rare look into the artistic process, the artists share their ideas about art, about cinema and about the way in which these should be related to each other. Today, the animators discover that the rules of the market and ratings are not necessarily less restrictive than ideological censorship.
