The Woman Rabbi

Directing: Anna Grusková

The life of Gisi Fleischmann who lived in Bratislava, Slovakia, was full of paradoxes. Even though Gisi helped thousands of people, today she is known only by very few. She had to bribe both Slovak and German officials with the belief of saving all European Jews. The first film version of the Gisi Fleischmann’s story offers us a number of discoveries from the Slovak, Israeli and American archives, memories of witnesses and historians from Melbourne to Bratislava, as well as scenes performed by the actors from the Bologna Theatre in Italy.
