Byeway

Story of a few meters long section of a highway resisting its completion is a parable of the barriers that the construction of the highway built between people. It points out the dysfunctions of the state and its institutions, but also the impermanence of values. Within the unique volcanic landscape, a true to model of the modern society’s functioning raises right before our eyes.
Through it, as an indelible memento of the inability to reach agreement, winds the highway. Even after many years, the builders cannot put the few remaining kilometers of D8 highway from Prague to Berlin, which leads through the protected area of Bohemian Central Uplands, into operation.
