Synopsis
Things, a documentary film by FAMU's Marta Hrubá, is a light, witty, poetic essay about the human dilemma between collecting things and getting rid of them. The film's two main characters are Mrs Voldřichová and Mrs Denská, two elegant elderly ladies. Both ladies live in their houses. While one clutters her rooms with old things, enthralling in their histories and old-time charm, the other systematically gets rid of everything that reminds her of the past. Mrs Voldřichová has made her living her passion too; she collects things, mends them and tries to put them back into use. In spite of their age, her things live on as long as they are used. Mrs Denská likes her place clean and tidy, she enjoys free space and identifies things that are useless or still useful. The things she keeps are really valuable for her. Director Marta Hrubá unveils the theme of collecting things and disposing of them, while giving the viewers enough space for their own thoughts.
