Synopsis
PRESENCE documents all streets named after women in Vienna. Each street is shown in one shot. The streets are arranged from the outskirts to the center of the city. This creates a countdown effect from more to less, since most streets named after women are in outer districts and in the suburbs. PRESENCE questions the representation of women in public space, which can be symbolic of other social and political spheres of society. The film is a stocktaking, a contribution to a culture of remembrance and gender justice.
