goEast - Festival of Central and Eastern European Film

About the Company

goEast is a festival organized by DFF– Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum launched in 2001 in Wiesbaden, Germany. It revolves around films made in Central and Eastern Europe, including countries of the former Soviet Union and former Yugoslavia. In and out of competition we screen documentaries, fiction films and a variety of other genres. In total goEast screens ca. 110 films and attracts around 12.000 visitors annually, including over 450 industry professionals, filmmakers and journalists. The festival runs a talent program for up-and-coming filmmakers from the region with works in development, which includes a research grant for documentaries with a human rights’ focus. Each year the festival organizes a symposium, focusing on relevant film–historical, political and/or social topics.
