Větrné mlýny

The publishing house called “Větné mlýny“(Wind Mills) was establisehd by Petr Minařík and Pavel Řehořík in 1995. From the very beginning it has been specializing in publishing of mainly theatre and drama literature. Throughout time the profile of the publishments has spread into its nowdays form, when important published genres are fiction, poetry as well as other literary genres written by Czech and foreign writers. Since 2005 the publishing house has been publishing (subcompany has a status of civic association called “Centre for Culture and Society“) a monthly literary revue called “Rozrazil“. With the cooperation of Masaryk University students it also operates a theatre server called “Rozrazil On-Line“.Besides its main publishing activity the publishing house is also involved in many other activities of cultural character (such as organizing and managing of literary festivals and autor readings, literary competitions, etc.) In particular the cultural agency and publishing house “Větrné mlýny“ has been organizing the biggest literary event within the Czech Republic called “The Month of Author´s Reading“ since 1999 and since 2009 there is another festival of poetry called “Days of Poetry and Wine“ taking place in the South of Moravia, in the scenic village of Valtice. Within its home country territory is the publishing house the only private publishing house systematically maping theatre oriented literature.
