Festival of Slovenian Film

About the Company

The Festival of Slovenian Film is an overview of Slovene audiovisual production. It presents the current production of feature and short fiction, documentary and animated films, which were filmed in Slovenia in the past year.

The Metod Badjura Lifetime Achievement Award is rewarded at the festival. It is the most prestigious award in the field of film production in Slovenia. The festival jury grants the vesna award for the most outstanding achievements of film producers of the past year. Vesna simbolizes the strength of the heroine from the legendary eponymous film directed by František Čap in 1955. František Čap, a director of Czech descent, represents one of the pillars of Slovene film history.

The festival is the successor to the Week of Domestic Film, a film festival which was founded in the 1970s in Celje, and was renamed to Festival of Slovenian Film after Slovenia declared independence. The Festival moved to Portorož where it still resides today.

The Festival of Slovenian Film is a national event where film producers, professionals, international guests and other film enthusiasts can meet.
