Civil Works Association

Civil Works was established in 2007. Our mission is to strengthen grassroots NGO initiatives and to stimulate critical thinking via films, methods of theatre pedagogy, educational projects. Our focus is discriminated social groups, including LGBT people, women, Roma people, Jewish people and homeless people.

Our three major projects:
2009-2011: “Secret Years”. A documentary about the life stories of 11 middle-aged and elderly lesbian women since the 1950s.

2011-2014: “What Would You Do?” Education of young people for active citizenship and human rights through recordings of directed discriminative situations with actors and people of the street in real life environments.

2011-2015: Hot Men Cold Dictatorships. Dramas of gay men during communism.
