Born in Sofia on 21.06.1945, he graduated in biochemistry Sofia University. Since 1973 he entered Bulgarian cinematography as an assistant director, later directed. He has a series of popular scientific and documentary films as writer and director. Those obtained more than 20 national and international awards including: Special Prize of the Council of Europe in Avignon; Special Award in Ostrava festival. Best director in Slovenia film festival; Honorary diploma for director in Krakow; Special Award of the film makers Union-Bulgaria; Decorated with Order of Cyril and Methodius; He is a member of the International Association for Scientific and popular cinema in Paris and the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers. Pantcho Tsankov is repeatedly invited to participate as a member in national and international juries at film festivals. For three years he was working as a cultural attaché in Bulgarian embassy in Paris, France. Since 1996 he is honorary professor at the New Bulgarian University in Sofia. In 1997 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Culture. Since 2000 he is the President of the Euro-Bulgarian Cultural Centre.
