Balazs Simonyi (1980, Budapest) graduated in Literature & Film, and is currently completing his PhD in Art Theory. He works as film director and producer since 2002. His films have been screened at major festivals, from Cannes and Karlovy Vary to Cracow, from Aspen and St. Louis to Seattle and Vancouver.
He has won several awards, like the CamerImage, the Audience Award at Asiana Film Festival, and the French Cinema Distributors’ (GRAC) prize. His films has been broadcasted all over in Europe, and the shortfilms in the USA and Japan. He is also an organizer and selector of the Budapest Short Film Festival (BuSho).
He joined DOK Incubator, Docu Rough Cut Boutique, EDN Thessaloniki, Nipkow Programm Berlin and CineLink Sarajevo.
