Lubomir Stecko earned a degree in film and television cinematography from Prague’s FAMU in 1972. After graduating he worked at the news and short film division of Slovak Film Production in Bratislava, first as a director of photography, later as a documentarian. Since the start of the 90s, he has held various posts at Slovak Television, including editor, dramaturg, producer, creative group chief and head creative group dramaturg. His documentaries, most of which he has written and shot himself, have been screened at film festivals and showcases both at home and abroad (Karlovy Vary, Oberhausen, Nyon), and his “Stanislav Babinsky – Life Is an Uncompromising Boomerang” (1991) saw cinema distribution.
