Zara Pfeifer was born in Cologne, Germany in 1984. She studied architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where she graduated in 2013, and photography at Friedl Kubelka School for Artistic Photography Vienna, where she graduated in 2016.
Her series "Dear Utopia" (orig.: "Du, meine konkrete Utopie") about the modernist residential project Alt-Erlaa was awarded and exhibited in Europe and USA. The short film was premiered at "Diagonale–Festival of Austrian Film". Her work shows a constant interest in spatial and social phenomena. Her focus is the everyday-life, the built environment, living spaces and the people who interact with and in them. Zara Pfeifer lives and works in Vienna, Austria.
