After graduating as a screenplay writer from the Academy of Film and Drama, Budapest, Hungary, Peter Akar have explored many different fields of filmmaking. Apart from writing for TV sitcoms, he worked as an editor and as a 1st assistant to director in Hungary, until he made his first short documentary Blocul nr.6. His main interest has turned towards documentaries and he moved to the UK to study documentary directing at the National Film and Television School. After the NFTS he has been working in Scotland for SDI and ITN. He has also been involved with setting up and programming the first Budapest International Documentary Festival. His latest film Sing Your Heart Out has won the Grierson Award in 2014.
