Martin Kohout

director, producer

Martin graduated from sociology at Faculty of Arts at Charles University and documentary film production at Film and TV School of Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU). In his documentaries, Martin focuses on socio-political topics. In his documentary JUDr. Michal Dainišovič (2010) he is concerned with the responsibility and guilt of an individual during the communist regime through the concept of banality of evil (the best docu picture at FAMUfest). Martin’s graduation film The Czech Way (2015) tries to analyze all the reasons which led to the gigantic privatization experiment in the Czech Republic after the Velvet Revolution. It does so by confronting testimonies of participants involved in the contemporary decision-making processes with the archived materials (Andrej Stankovič award).
