Brenda Akele Jorde is a documentary film director known for her debut short film "VA-BENE," which received international recognition at various festivals. She honed her skills by pursuing an MA in Documentary Directing from Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf between 2018 and 2022. During her studies, she directed the shorts STICK OF JOY (2020) in Berlin and A WAY OF BREATHING (2020) in Iran. In 2022 she published her first feature-length documentary, THE HOMES WE CARRY, which premiered at Doc Leipzig, was nominated for the First Steps Award and won Best Documentary at Documentaria in Sicily. She also directed the documentary series FAMILY OF CHOICE which was released in 2023 on RTL+. Her films so far deal with self-empowerment through art, queerness or the effects of migration on the individual. Brenda also works on film festivals in Berlin such as Interfilm and Achtung Berlin as a curator and as a circus pedagogue in social institutions.
