Marc Eberle, writer, director, producer, has been living in Cambodia for the past 10 years and has made numerous films in the
country. Marc Eberle has previously directed documentaries for HBO, BBC, ARTE, NDR, WDR, SWR, BR, MDR, ZDF and Discovery
Channel in Oman, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia. His documentary, The Most Secret
Place on Earth – The CIA’s Covert War in Laos, was screened at over twelve international film festivals and was nominated for the
Golden Panda at Sichuan intl. Film Festival, China; the History Makers’ Award, New York; the North German Film Award; and the
Banff World Television Award, Canada. So far, the film has been sold to 25 countries worldwide. His most recent documentary
(camera and co-direction with Angus Macqueen) Aung San Suu Kyi: The Choice was shown on BBC2 in September 2012. His most
recent film titled The Cambodian Space Project–Not Easy Rock'n'Roll on singer Srey Thy, shot over 5 years and co-produced by BBC
Storyville and ABC Australia will be released late 2014/ early 2015.
Starting January 2012 Marc has been appointed Artistic Director for DocNet South East Asia, a regional training initiative funded by
the EU and Goethe Institute with masterclasses in Indonesia, The Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar. As part of
the project Marc plans, curates and oversees the implementation of ChopShots, international Documentary Filmfestival held in
Jakarta.
