Kristen Fitzpatrick has been with Women Make Movies, a non-profit New York City-based film organization that supports women filmmakers, since 2000. She programs the global exhibition of WMM's collection of over 600 films, and is responsible for the acquisition of the organization's new film releases.
Prior to Women Make Movies, Kristen served as the programmer for the Florida International Film Program, an indie film series in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Kristen is currently a member of the board of NewFest, New York's LGBTQ film festival, as well as a long-term member of the selection committee for the New York International Asian American Film Festival. Kristen has served as a judge for the Student Academy Awards (The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences), and was past recognized as an Emerging Leader by the National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture (NAMAC). Kristen currently co-curates an ongoing film series, Radical Feminist, at Spectacle Theater in Brooklyn, NY. Kristen has spoken on numerous film festival panels about film distribution, feminism, and women in media. Most recently, Kristen gave a talk at the United Nations for the annual UN Commission on the Status of Women. Kristen lives in Brooklyn, has an ongoing love affair with film and New York City, and spends considerable time deliberating about how documentary film really can change the world.
