After earning degrees in Comparative and Medieval Literature and in Linguistics from the School of Oriental Studies, Ms. Schuchman became a publisher at the Imprimerie nationale. Joining ARTE in 1991 as the Chief Editor of their program magazine, she founded ARTE Editions (their book and multimedia department) and then became the director of all ARTE’s multimedia products : DVD, CD-roms, videos, books (a department that she also developed for the French Fifth channel.) In 2001, she moved to « Institut national de l’Audiovisuel » as head of cultural and educational development, Director of creative programming and research and, eventually headed-up Production and Publishing there. As the head of a team of 70 persons, she promoted and conceived the direction of creation, production, and publishing at INA: creative essays and documentaries, creative archival exploitation, DVD editions of films, hyper-media productions, and products for pedagogical uses. The objective of this new Management was to center its work on new technologies of production and broadcasting as well as new ways of audiovisual consultation. In 2006, Ms. Schuchman created her own company, \"SCHUCH PRODUCTIONS\" in order to produce culturally oriented multimedia projects including book, audiovisual, museum and multimedia publishing as well as documentaries.
