A leading curator, producer, and creative executive, Caroline spent 19 years as senior programmer at the Sundance Film Festival, where she co-headed documentary and international competitions. She also founded and directed the Sundance Women's Program and Sundance Catalyst, where she raised $32 million for 89 projects including Won't You Be My Neighbor, Truffle Hunters, and Crip Camp. In 2021 she co-founded Jewish Story Partners with Spielberg’s Righteous Persons Foundation, and has granted $4M+ to 118 documentaries including Steal This Story Please, Sabbath Queen, and five Oscar-shortlisted films including: Holding Liat, Coexistence My Ass!, My Undesirable Friends, and Last Flight Home. Documentary producing credits include We Are Pat (exec producer), Food and Country (producer/story producer), Disclosure (exec producer), American Revolutionary: Evolution of Grace Lee Boggs (producer), Shuffle (consulting producer), The Power of Film (consulting producer), Monk in Pieces (consulting producer), and Sunset Story (producer). A frequent development / story consultant, strategic advisor, moderator, and tutor, she holds degrees from Oberlin (BA), Harvard (MA), and UCLA Film School (MFA). She is a member of AMPAS, a former board member of Women Make Movies and International Documentary Association, and currently serves on the board of Vista House, a third space in Los Angeles for independent filmmakers and artists.
