Max Tuula is an Estonian producer born in Russia. In 2012 he founded the Tallinn-based company Marx Film which became known for political documentaries. A long-term partner of Marx Film was celebrated Russian filmmaker Alexander Rastorguev. Their collaborations (I Don’t Love You by Kostomarov/ Rastorguev, The Term by Pivovarov/ Kostomarov/ Rastorguev, Kiev/Moscow by Elena Khoreva, My Friend Boris Nemtsov by Zosya Rodkevich) participated in such festivals as Locarno, Karlovy Vary, IDFA, DokLeipzig. In 2017 The Trial: The State of Russia vs Oleg Sentsov premiered at the Berlinale and was acquired by the European Parliament. The 2018 film How Big Is the Galaxy? premiered at IDFA and received multiple awards, including Best Documentary from the European Children’s Film Association.
