Born in 1948. A Brno-based documentary filmmaker, independent screenwriter and director. Graduated from FAMU, Prague. He specializes in the making of music films, documentaries and entertainment programmes (e.g. 1995: Sir Charles Mackerras on Janáček, 1996: Paco de Lucia, 1997: Mari Boine, Joe Zawinul: My People, 2000: A Little Suite for a Life, 2002: Iva Bittová - Strange Miss). Many years of cooperation with the Brno Studio of Czech TV and the National Institute of Folk Culture in Strážnice (UNESCO projects). He is the co-author and director of a number of successful TV shows. Awarded several prizes, e.g. Czech Crystal at the 1995 Golden Prague International TV Festival for the documentary Three Times in Gold Letters, the FITES Prize for the documentary Italianissimo Antonio Salieri (1999), the Foskar Award for best programme on traditional folk culture Folklorica (2004) and the Elsa TV award for best entertainment show – Bolek Polívka’s Arena (2004).
