Maxmilián Petřík (*1.1.1944 Příbram) – writer and director. He came to his profession through amateur movie-making. After graduating from KDT FAMU (1967) he became a director for KF Praha, where he worked for 25 years. Later, he started freelancing. He mostly dedicates his efforts to history, arts and science. He makes educational movies for various schools and Academy of Science ČR in Studio J.A. Komenského. Besides that, he mostly cooperates with Czech Television. His filmography includes biography series “Seventy two names of Czech history”, 77-episodes series about Czech history “Czech Chronicles”. He mapped the life stories of Adolf Kosárek (Czech landscapist), J.A.Komenský (Angelus Pacis), Bedřich Smetana (A Bitter Cup of Happiness) etc., but he also makes documetaries about contemporary culture and science.
