Dirk Manthey is a graduate of ethnology and romance studies. He has been working as a director and producer since 1996. He founded the production company Dirk Manthey Film in 2000, in 2016 the fiction film production company La Mosca Bianca films was set up and in 2023 the impact production company Sparrows on Rooftops with Anke Petersen. Since 2023 he has been a deputy member of the BKM jury documentary film, since 2019 Decision maker at Visions du Réel and in 2021 he was a decision maker at CineMundi.
