Liina Paakspuu (1980, Estonia) has directed short films (e.g.”Small Town Men”, “So Long, Suckers”), documentaries (e.g. “91 kilometers”, “Fox Season”, “Killer”), music videos, TV drama and comedy series (e.g. “Class”, “Dream Agency”). Her debut feature film as a director, “Soovide Puu”/ “Wish Tree”, premiered at the Festival des films du monde de Montréal in 2009 and won the Best Comedy Award at The Tiburon International Film Festival in California. In 2006 she and Arian Levin established a production company called Kinky Kong Productions, which produces films, videos, TV projects and also specializes in sound design and music composition. She works as a Program Director for Baltic Bridges Documentary Workshop (Organized by Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, Sleepwalkers Student and Short Film Festival and Unitas Foundation). The films she is currently working on include: a full length documentary about the phenomenon of Nordic folk metal titled “Heart of the Wolf” (produced by Revolver Film) and a feature film script “Hipster” (produced by Exitfilm). She has also appeared in different films and TV shows as an Actress, done projects as Art Director and written articles for various publications. She lectures at the Baltic Film and Media School since 2003. Education: BA in Audiovisual Media (2003), MA in Film Arts (2009), Tallinn University Baltic Film and Media School.
