Bence Máté is a documentary film director and former Middle East correspondent. He grew up in Hungary and Germany and lived in Israel as well as in surrounding Arabic countries for years. His work spans from human rights violations in Egypt to religious nationalism in the West Bank and political corruption in Hungary. His 2018 documentary Koka, the Butcher won awards at festivals in the US (Boston, Big Sky, St. Louis), Europe (Gent) and the Middle East (BBC Arabic Film Festival). Most recently, he directed the 4-part documentary series Terror at the Games. The Munich Massacre about the Munich Olympic Games of 1972.
