Max Milhahn was born in Munich in 1980. After graduating from high school in 2000 he worked as production-assistant and production manager on film and TV productions in Munich, Berlin, Vienna and Quito. In 2005 he began his studies in film production at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Film Academy. Upon achieving his intermediate diploma he switched over to the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin (DFFB), where he graduated in 2010. Supported by a scholarship of the GWFF – Gesellschaft zur Wahrung von Film- und Fernsehrechten mbH he took part in the summer course Producing for Film and Television at Tisch School of the Arts/New York University in 2008. In 2009 he received a scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Program DAAD and spent three month in Buenos Aires to study Spanish at University of Buenos Aires.During his studies he produced short feature films and documentaries that were screened at national and international film festivals like Cannes International Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival or Mar del Plata International Film Festival. His filmography includes shorts like FIRN, SUZUKI and MOONLIGHT and the documentaries CIVILIANS ON THE BATTLEFIELD, LADIES OF FORTUNE. Towards the end of his studies he focused more and more on documentary films. For his documentary OVER THE THRESHOLD he was awarded the producers price at the Sehsüchte Festival Potsdam in 2007. Since 2009 he works as producer for telekult Film- und Medienproduktion GmbH in Berlin. In 2010 he took part in the Documentary Campus Masterschool with the project COOL JAPAN.
